ViewSonic expanded its 3D portfolio this morning with the launch of its V3D231, a new 23-inch 3D-ready LED monitor with a 2ms response time, 20,000,000:1 contrast ratio (dynamic, of course), and affordable price tag. As you might expect, ViewSonic is really playing up the ultra-fast response time, saying it’s equally suited for 3D gaming and delivering broadcast quality, full-motion video.

There’s also an HDMI 1.4a port for piping 3D games and movies from your PlayStation 3 or Blu-ray player, in addition to VGA and DVI-D connectors. The 23-inch panel supports Full HD (1920×1080) and is rated for 250 cd/m2 brightness (typical). A pair of 2W speakers powered by SRS Premium Sound handle audio chores.

Rounding out the package is ViewSonic’s TriDef software for converting 2D content into 3D, along with a single pair of polarized glasses and one pair of clip-on polarized lenses.

The V3D231 is available now across Europe for €279 inc. VAT (around $384). No word on when it will ship stateside or what it will cost when it does.
