DDD - 3D Media Formats

The TriDef 2D-compatible 3D media file formats come in two varieties: TriDef Movies (any video) and TriDef Photos (any single frame image).

DDD has also developed and patented a 2D-compatible 3D format for the terrestrial or network transmission of video. Importantly, all formats are completely compatible with current 2D display technology.

TriDef Media Files

TriDef Movies are 3D Display-independent encrypted media format for showing video on any TriDef enabled 3D Display. TriDef Photos are very similar, but are optimized for a single image. TriDef Movies and Photos come in two forms:

	Depth based TriDef Media can be further adjusted at viewing time for maximum 3D impact.
	Multi-view TriDef Media contain multiple views of a scene, permitting true 'look around' 3D.

TriDef 3D Transmission

DDD owns an important patent for Dynamic Depth Cueing (DDC) that describes the method for transmitting 3D information alongside a 2D video signal, using existing television distribution methods. A TriDef Transmission adds about 5% more information to a standard 2D broadcast. TriDef Transmission technology will allow for the mainstream adoption of 3D video signals over existing infrastructure, thus allowing media providers to earn new, premium revenue streams from their content.
