I didn't figure this out until just now, but I discovered a few things that were extremely suprising to me and thought I'd share them here. It might not be new information to most, but some mind find it helpful. If you have an Nvidia card with Nvidia Stereo 3D support, if you enable Nvidia Stereo 3D in the Nvidia Control Panel and check "Hide stereoscopic 3D effects when game starts" then start up a game with Tridef 3D, you will have an increase of 10 to 40 frames per second in game. With Nvidia 3D Turned Off, I get an fps of 5 with Crysis on high settings using Tridef 3D, that's without performance mode on. With Nvidia 3D running I get an increase of 15 - 35 frames per second without performance mode on. As long as you have Nvidia 3D off, but enabled in the control panel you will see a huge difference in performance.
UPDATE: To have the 3D stereo settings in the control panel, you have to go to
www.nvidia.com, then download drivers then choose 3D vision. Then just select the options for your system and card, download, and install. Then Stereoscopic settings should be in the control panel.
