DDD Debuts 3D DVD Video Solution With Sharp Corporation At CEATEC 2003

DDD previews 3D consumer DVD solution with Sharp 3D LC display
Santa Monica, Calif. and Chiba, Japan (October 7, 2003) DDD Group plc (AIM: DDD) today announced that it will demonstrate a prototype of its consumer 3D DVD video solution on the Sharp Corporation ("Sharp") exhibition booth at the Combined Exhibition of Advanced TEChnologies (CEATEC) being held at the Nippon Convention Center, Japan between October 7th and 11th 2003.
The demonstration is based on a conventional consumer DVD player capable of playing popular movies in 3D on the latest 8" VGA (640 x 480) Sharp 3D liquid crystal (LC) display. Using DDD's 3D decoder hardware TriDef TD2200), the viewer has the choice of watching the specially formatted 3D DVD disc in 3D without glasses. Taking full advantage of the unique 2D and 3D switchability of the innovative Sharp 3D LC display viewers can also watch the movies in normal 2D if they wish.
Through the use of DDD's high performance 2D to 3D conversion software, a selection of blockbuster Hollywood movies including the trailers for 'Shrek!' and 'Jurassic Park 3', will be presented in 3D, allowing visitors to experience the next generation in visual entertainment.
